PURPOSE: An optical disc device and an operation method thereof are provided to efficiently detect the information of the defective signal of an optical disc and to maintain a stable operation. CONSTITUTION: An operation of an optical disc device is as follows. A motor rotates an optical disc(S610). A first optical system module searches the defective section included in the information recorded on the optical disc. (S620). A second optical system module reads out the information recorded on the optical disc(S630). The defective section is searched(S640). A control unit controls the location information of the defective section in a memory(S650). The control unit determines the section which an RF signal is unable to read out by the defective section based on the information recorded on the optical disc. .
