The purpose of the present invention is to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery that is capable of suppressing swelling of a battery even in cases where the battery, which is in a high-voltage state, is left in a high temperature atmosphere for a long period of time. The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is characterized by comprising: a positive electrode that has a positive electrode mixture layer which contains a positive electrode active material, an organic solvent-based binder and a polymer containing a polyethylene glycol group; a negative electrode that has a negative electrode active material; a separator that is arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolyte that is impregnated into the separator. A polyethylene glycol is used as the polymer containing a polyethylene glycol group, and a polyvinylidene fluoride is used as the organic solvent-based binder.
