A lockout lever (30), which is provided so as to be capable of being inserted and withdrawn from between the restricting pin and the tip part of the reverse restricting member, is biased to the insertion side by means of a spring (33), and at less than a prescribed vehicle speed, the tip of an advancing operating rod (40a) of an actuator (40) makes contact with the lockout lever, which resists the spring (33) and is withdrawn. When the vehicle speed is at or greater than the prescribed vehicle speed, the tip part of the reverse restricting member makes contact with the inserted lockout lever and prevents the selection lever from moving to the reverse selection position.
