<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system of displaying a user interface to control playback and features that may be associated with prerecorded media. <P>SOLUTION: A media player 100 such as a DVD player and a personal computer receives streams of video and displays its content. Simultaneously, and without interrupting the video playback, the user interface is overlaid on the video image. The user interface may include menu selections to control the playback of the video including scene selection, settings, and viewing rights.
