<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base for a liquid ejection head capable of attaining a higher density and downsizing. <P>SOLUTION: The base for the liquid ejection head includes: a liquid flow path forming member having a liquid discharge port for discharging a liquid and a liquid flow path communicating to the liquid discharge port; and a substrate having on its first face side a discharge energy generating element for generating an energy to discharge the liquid and having therein a liquid supply port for supplying the liquid to the liquid flow path.
