A solution of a rubber is coagulated and desolventized by steam, dewatered and crushed into porous particle form: the particles are then added to the latex of another rubber maintained at a temperature sufficient to prevent the agglomeration of the particles yet insufficient to cause the violent evaporation of water from the latex, the particles are mixed for a time to ensure intimate penetration of the latex into the coagulated rubber, the mixture is coagulated and the mixture is dewatered. The invention is exemplified by the coagulation of polybutadiene by steam, the addition thereto during dewatering of a non-ionic surfactant, dispersing the particles in a latex of oil-extended SBR, coagulating with salt/acid, drying, compounding and curing.
