<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel vapor treatment apparatus comprising a closing valve having small electromotive force of an electric drive part during valve-opening, a fewer number of components, and a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: In this fuel vapor treatment apparatus 10, a closing valve 40 performs opening and closing driving of a valve member 46 by a solenoid 49. A pump 60 can pressurize or depressurize a space at an atmosphere-side of the valve member 46. A control device 75 controls the pump 60 so that an atmosphere-side pressure and a tank-side pressure are equivalent before the valve-opening of the closing valve 40. Accordingly, the axial force acting on the valve member 46 is balanced by changing the atmosphere-side pressure by the pump 60, and the electromotive force of the solenoid 49 during the valve-opening of this closing valve 40 becomes small. There is no need for forming a passage in a housing 41 for balancing the axial force acting on the valve member 46 or for adding a member such as a hose or the like.
