Provided are a remote control method and an electronic device for realizing same. The remote control method includes: according to the type and model information of a remote controller to be simulated, acquiring a remote controller image corresponding to the type and model information of the remote controller, each key of the acquired remote controller image being divided into an individual selectable area and respectively corresponding to a unique remote controller key control code; displaying the acquired remote controller image; and operating the key in the displayed remote controller image and emitting the remote controller key control code corresponding to the key to the outside in the manner of wireless communication to perform the functions of the remote controller to be simulated. By using said method, all the function of a remote controller to be simulated can be simulated intuitively and simultaneously by displaying and processing a remote controller image on an electronic device with wireless communication ability, thus realizing a universal remote controller device with one electronic device.
