A portable machine for facing high pressure flanged pipe end faces comprises a cutting edge, means for rotating the cutting edge against the pipe end face and means adapted to be attached to the pipe flange for positioning the cutting edge relative to the pipe face . Three replaceable tungsten carbide slips 2 are mounted on a mild steel backing plate 1 attached to a spindle 3 driven by the gear-box 4 of a variable speed air motor. The gear-box is slidably mounted on three tubular guide columns 5 projecting from an adaptor plate 6 bolted to the flange 7 of a pipe 11. A backing plate 8 mounted on the columns 5 supports coarse and fine adjustment screws 9, 10; the screw 9 is operated by a hand wheel 12 to bring the tungsten carbide slips 2 into contact with the pipe face 14; the screw 10 is operated by a knurled nut 13 to put on feed. |
