The prevent invention provides an apparatus and method for loading and unloading vehicles transported by a container ship. The method for transporting vehicles according to the present invention can promote mass transportation of vehicles because a space for storing the vehicles may be significantly reduced by loading an exclusive container for vehicles on a top surface of a deck of an existing container ship, mainly loading the vehicles that are light cargos on a section used for mainly loading an empty container, and connecting multiply-stacked vehicle containers to a ramp tower in a container terminal, thereby forming a parking garage. The exclusive container for vehicles is configured such that: an inner loading space of the container is vertically divided to form a two-stage bottom panel so that the vehicles may be efficiently transported; sliding doors are installed on the front and rear surfaces of each of the containers so that the vehicles are movable in a state whereby the containers are continuously connected to each other; and even after the containers are connected to each other, the sliding doors are openable or closable.
