The invention relates to a frame, optionally for bicycles or for trailer bicycles, containing a bottom bracket housing (2), a head tube (3), and a supporting frame part (1), which is produced from an extruded hollow profiled section, which runs outside of the central reference plane of the bicycle, and which has a direction of support parallel to the extrusion direction, for connecting to a rear wheel drive (10) comprising an output gear (11) of an upstream transmission and comprising a rear wheel shaft (12) which drives the rear wheel (13). The supporting frame part is arranged between the output gear and the seat (12a) of the rear wheel on the rear wheel shaft from an axial perspective. The invention is characterized in that the frame is designed as an individual carrier, the bottom bracket housing is fixed directly or indirectly to the frame only via the supporting frame part, and the front end of the supporting frame part is fixed to the head tube or to a hinged joint arranged between the head tube and the bottom bracket housing. The frame can be produced in an inexpensive manner, and short rear lengths and chain and gear drives can be achieved using the frame.
