<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection optical system capable of adjusting an imaging surface and a projector equipped with the same. <P>SOLUTION: A second group 40 has a power different in a longitudinal direction and a lateral direction of a liquid crystal panel 18G (18R, 18B). Accordingly, a projection optical system 20 as an entire system has a different focal distance, and also different magnification in each of the longitudinal and lateral directions. Thus, an aspect ratio of an image of the liquid crystal panel 18G (18R, 18B) and an aspect ratio of an image projected on the screen SC can be made different. That is, the projection optical system 20 enables conversion of an aspect ratio which is a ratio of width to height. Here, by a drive mechanism 61, at least a third group 60 can change a location in synchronization with forward/backward movement of the second group 40 to adjust an imaging position, so that in any of a first operational state and a second operational state, an imaging surface can be kept at an identical location and can be optimized in accordance with a location of the screen SC. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
