Disclosed herein is a flame retardant polyamide composition comprising, based on the total weight of the flame retardant polyamide composition, (a) about 10 wt% or more of at least one polyamide; (b) about 5-20 wt% of at least one halogen-free flame retardant selected from phosphorus compounds; (c) about 0.5-10 wt% of beohmite; (d) about 0.25-6 wt% of at least one polyhydric alcohol having more than two hydroxyl groups and a number average molecular weight (Mn) of about 2000 or less; and (e) about 10-60 wt% of at least one reinforcing agent. Also disclosed here are articles comprising the flame retardant polyamide resin composition.
