<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording and reproducing device in which, in an optical disk recording and reproducing device supporting an optical disk having at least two layers or more, a reduction in access time and stability of a focus servo are compatible with each other. <P>SOLUTION: In an optical disk recording and reproducing device performing recording and reproducing on an optical disk having at least two layers or more, an optical pickup is adaptable to thread movement in the radial direction of the optical disk, and includes a spherical aberration correction mechanism inside the optical pickup itself. In performing data access straddling a layer or more, while the thread movement is performed in a subject layer, before a focus jump is carried out to a target layer, the spherical aberration correction mechanism is made to move to a position suitable for the focus jump. After the focus jump is carried out and the movement to the target layer is done, the spherical aberration correction mechanism is moved to the position suitable for the target layer while the thread movement is performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
