A method for analysing and managing mapping information for data Extract-Transform-Load process and a data analysis and mapping system for data transformation are disclosed. The data analysis and mapping system comprises an analysis subunit hosted at each of a plurality of distributed nodes for extracting at least one source and target data structures and analysing inferences about data fields in source systems and target systems as tags and metadata for identifying related fields in the target systems and a data mapping management unit, implemented on a processor, and communicatively coupled to the plurality of distributed nodes for managing a mapping information associated with the at least one source and target data structures. The mapping management unit further comprises a management subunit adapted to receive extracted source and target data structures from the plurality of distributed nodes. The management subunit is further adapted to aggregate and define each received data structure in compliance with associated local data structure rules. The management subunit is further adapted to derive a set of global data structure compatibility rules to enable mapping between the source and target data structures, and the management subunit is further adapted to generate a mapping specification using the derived global data structure compatibility rules. The data analysis and mapping system further comprises a monitoring and validation subunit configured to iteratively verify the mapping specification until each of the plurality of distributed nodes approves each version of the mapping specification generation process, each version being made accessible to a plurality of nodes associated therewith
