摘要 <p>[Problem] To enable a case to be manufactured easily for a tubular shock absorber for which a cylindrical case that houses a damping force generation mechanism is connected to a side surface part of a cylinder part. [Solution] A piston to which a piston rod (6) is connected is inserted into a cylinder (2) filled with oil. An outer tube (3) is provided at the outer circumference of the cylinder (2), forming a reservoir (4) therebetween. A bottomed cylindrical case (25) is connected to a side surface part of the outer tube (3), and a damping force adjustment valve (27) is housed in the case (25). The bottomed cylindrical case (25), which has a bottom part (25A) formed by a flat inner surface (25C) and a connecting surface (25B) that curves along the outer circumferential surface of the outer tube (3), is integrally formed by forging. Thus, in comparison with the conventional manufacturing of a case by means of mechanical processing of a pipe material, it is possible to significantly reduce the mechanically processed region, and to reduce the manufacturing cost by reducing the processing time and improving the yield.</p>
