Disclosed are a method and system for accessing the core network and for the network side to initiate detachment. The method for accessing a core network includes: a TNAN network element receives an EAP authentication success message and then initiates a session establishment request with the core network, said request carrying an instruction not to assign an IP address; the core network returns a session establishment response and then the UE requests an IP address from the core network through an IP address request message to gain access to the core network. The method for the network side to initiate detachment includes: after a TNAN network element receives a detachment indication or initiates cancellation of a session with the core network according to local management configuration, the core network initiates a DHCP force renew with the UE to ask the UE to request an IP address from the core network again; and the UE requests an IP address from the core network again, and the core network returns a non-acknowledgement. The present invention specifies the flow of the UE establishing a connection using L2 message triggering through a trustable non-3GPP system and the flow of initiating detachment from the network side.
