PURPOSE: An antibacterial composition containing Porphyra tenera extract is provided to ensure antibacterial activity against pathogenic bacteria and to prevent and treat bacterial infectious diseases. CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial composition contains Porphyra tenera extract as an active ingredient. The composition has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans, Streptococcus mutans, or Staphylococcus aureus. The extract is isolated using water including purified water, low alcohol of C1-C4, hexane, chloform, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate, glycerin, butylene glycol, or mixture solvent. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating bacterial infectious diseases contains Porphyra tenera extract as an active ingredient. A neutraceutical composition for preventing and treating bacterial infectious diseases contains the Porphyra tenera extract as an active ingredient. The neutraceutical composition is manufactured in the form of powder, granule, tablet, capsule, or beverage. |
