<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent paper sheets from entering a gap between a stage 21 and a gate guide 26 in a paper sheet accumulating and feeding mechanism for vertically moving the stage 21 and rotationally driving a plurality of feed rollers 31 to accumulate or feed the paper sheets such as bills. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of projections are symmetrically provided in the longitudinal direction of the stage 21 so as to avoid the center of the stage 21 between two feed rollers 31 adjacent to each other on a side face on the gate guide 26 side of the longitudinal direction of the stage 21.
