A fabric for babies' napkins has zones of high-twist yarn which run across a napkin cut from the fabric, so that it shrinks to hourglass shape when washed. The fabric may consist of two separate plies interwoven at the selvedges and at weftwise zones along which it is cut by pinking. The plies are also interwoven in one or two warpwise zones, along which the fabric is folded to make a napkin having two layers of equal width or a napkin having three layers down the middle and two layers at the edges. In this form, the shrinkable yarns are weft, but similar napkins are made from a fabric having the shrinkable yarns in the warp. |
