A ring main circuit is provided with a test connector point comprising: first live, earth and neutral terminals, for connection to one side of the ring main; second live, earth and neutral terminals for connection to the other side of the ring main; and a continuity switch moveable between two positions to connect or disconnect the first live terminal (L1) to the second live terminal (L2) and the first neutral terminal (N1) to the second neutral terminal (N2). The connector allows continuity testing of the ring main and may be provided in a double wall socket. When the continuity switch is in a first position, the socket operates as a normal power point. For testing, L1 is disconnected from L2, and N1 from N2 and a test instrument measures resistance across the terminals. Figure of eight tests (figs 2 and 3, not shown) connect L1 to N2, L2 to N1 or live to earth for further tests.
