<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery equipped with a wound electrode assembly without short circuit due to damage of a separator caused by a breakdown of an electrode at a joint of lead line. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The battery comprises the wound electrode assembly composed of a wound lamination of a positive electrode, a separator, and negative electrodes. The positive electrode 30 and at least one of the negative electrodes and an external terminal are connected through a ribbon of lead 20. One end of the lead 20 is perpendicularly in contact with the one of the electrode substrate which is joined to the lead 20 in that contact surface.
