In an electro-chemical cell comprising a rodlike electrode 2 disposed within a cup-shaped electrode 1, the open end of which is covered by a plastics material 4 having an aperture through which extends the rod-like electrode, said aperture is bounded by a tubular wall portion 6 which extends towards the closed end of the cup-shaped electrode and a resilient clamping means 9 is positioned around the tubular wall portion to urge the same against the rod-like electrode. The clamping means may comprise a spring or a ring clip. The rodlike electrode 2 may be formed with grooves 10 in the area which is in contact with the tubular wall portion 6, which grooves may be filled with an absorbent material. The rod-like electrode 2 may be formed of metal, or of carbon with the protruding end formed with a metal cap 7. |
