PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to effectively disconnect an electrode tab and an electrode lead, thereby improving the safety of a battery. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly(30), which includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator placed between the positive electrode and negative electrode, and is mounted in a case(20) with a liquid electrolyte. A pouch(80) carrying an volume-expandable material is mounted on a part where electrode tabs(40,50) are connected to electrode leads(60,70). The volume-expandable material is expanded at 100 deg. C. or higher.
