1,158,928. Mixing powders by gas jets. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 16 Sept., 1966 [18 Sept., 1965], No. 41527/66. Heading B1C. [Also in Division F4] Pulverulent material is mixed, and wetted or dried, by a plurality of continuous upwardly directed fluidizing gas jets, and at least one annular propellant gas jet continuously injected in the same direction as the fluidizing jets but at a velocity of at least the speed of sound. As shown an apparatus comprises a vessel 1 with bottom 2 perforated to provide the fluidizing jets, and a conduit 3 for supplying the propellant jet by way of a spring loaded check valve member 4 of double conical form. There may be more than one such valve (see Fig. 3, not shown). Liquid supply ducts may lead adjacent the valve seat, and the seat and valve may be axially movable as a unit to provide an outlet port (see Fig. 5, not shown). A guide ring may be mounted on and above the valve member (see Fig. 6, not shown), which may alternatively be spherical, or an elongated bar of lozenge cross-section. |
