<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode active material of low cost and having a capacity larger than LiCoO<SB>2</SB>or LiNiO<SB>2</SB>with the use of complex oxide of lithium and manganese, and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the cathode active material. <P>SOLUTION: For the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery sealing an electrode group structured by winding or laminating a cathode plate and an anode plate forming an active material layer containing an active material capable of storing and releasing at least lithium on a core material surface through a separator into a battery case together with nonaqueous electrolyte, orthorhombic system lithium manganese complex oxide belonging to a space group Fddd is made contained as an active material in the cathode plate to obtain a low-cost and high-capacity nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
