A spray producer suitable for coating refrigerator cabinets with lacquer comprises a rotatable spray disc 4 mounted on the mouth of a funnel-shaped member 3 and a supply pipe 10 adapted to feed the lacquer to the internal region of the member 3 having a minimum diameter. The disc 4 is rotated via a pipe 12 by a motor and is reciprocated during spraying by a piston and cylinder device. The disc 4 and the member 3 may be inverted and a further disc 13 or a further pair of discs 13, 19 may be provided axially spaced with respect to the disc 4. The disc 13 is supplied with lacquer by a stationary pipe 17' and the disc 19 is supplied by a pipe 23' which terminates above apertures 22 in a bush 20 supporting the disc 19. The lacquer from the pipe 23' is guided through the apertures by a plug 25 and a uniform distribution within the bush is assisted by an annular groove 21. The discs may be rotated at different speeds and may spray different materials. The cabinets (7), fig. 1 (not shown) are suspended from a guide rail (6) by runners (8) and are moved around the discs through a semi-circle or three-quarters of a circle by a conveyor, not shown. The cabinets are additionally rotated through steps of 90‹ by devices (9) and the conveying speed of the cabinets is synchronised with the speed of reciprocation of the spray discs. An electrostatic field between the discs and the cabinets may be utilized to assist spraying. The funnel shaped member 3 may be inverted. |
