The device has a platform (10) and a railing (20) slidable with respect to each other. A locking unit includes a platform part integral with the platform and a railing part integral with the railing, where the parts are engaged with each other to prevent the relative sliding of the railing and the platform. A stem (170) transmits an actuating force of a handle (150) to the locking unit to disengage the locking unit, where a weight part engages the railing portion and the platform portion with each other in the absence of the actuating force.
