In a conveyer belt of flexible material in which are embedded laterally extending reinforcement members, each of the latter comprises a plurality of elements 12, 13, 14 disposed in end-to-end relation and interconnected by belt-protecting means 11 covering at least adjacent ends of the elements. As shown, the means 11 comprises a nylon tube extending over the whole reinforcement member with nylon distance-pieces 19 between the elements. Alternatively the rods may be moulded in a mass of plastics material. A drive belt 21 as described in Specification 1,227,131 has ribs 24 which engage ribs 23 of the conveyer belt. Support shoes 22 engage grooves 20 of the belt 21 to maintain a troughed configuration. Each reinforcement may alternatively comprise two hinged sections. |
