Apparatus suitable for advancing automobile bumpers to a press comprises a vertically movable platform 32 on which is provided a horizontally movable slide 34, there being independent mechanisms for moving the platform and the slide. Each mechanism produces simple harmonic motion of the platform/ slide driven thereby. The platform is supported on posts 12 which are raised and lowered by a motordriven crank 14 via a brake and clutch unit 18, a speed reducer 20, linkage 22, 24, 28, 30, and rack-and-pinion means. The slide 34, which is provided with work supporting members 36, is driven by a motor 50, through pin-and-slot means 38, 40, 42. In operation, timed switch means control the brake and clutch devices and the slide 34 performs upward, horizontal, downward and horizontal movements to its starting position. The path of movement may be modified to include rounded corners of differing radius. |
