A variable fluid resistor comprises a non- rotatable disc 6 provided with slots 7, 8 which are connected to inlet and outlet bores 9, 10 and which are bridged by a slot 13 in a member 5 which is rotatably adjustable to vary the effective lengths of the slots. A cavity 26 which interconnects slot 13 with a bore 25 provides a centre tapping in the resistor. In a modification Figs, 1A, 1B (not shown), this tapping is dispensed with. In a further modification Figs. 3A, 3B(not shown) a rotatable disc 6 has four concentric slots (30, 31, 33, 34) interconnected by two radial slots (32, 35) in a non-rotatable member 5 to provide a two ganged resistor. The slots in the disc may be of non- uniform cross-section to provide a non-linear characteristic to the resistor. |
