[Also in Divisions B5 and D1] A grinding wheel 107, moulded from a resinabrasive particle mixture, contains a reinforcing web comprising a series of loops 114-119 of e.g. wire or glass fibre, each loop being angularly offset with respect to neighbouring loops and eccentrically mounted relative to the centre opening 110 of the wheel. The loops are joined at their cross-over points by e.g. clips or by a bonding agent and the loops may be smoothly curved or polygonal. The web may be wound upon a suitable machine from resin impregnated strands, the resin being subsequently cured to afford a degree of stiffness to the web. |
