When a plug 2 is inserted into a socket 1, it engages a stop and a spring 11, mounted in an internal groove in the socket 1 but projecting outwardly through holes 10, and it is forced, by camming projections 23 of a sleeve 22 on the plug 2, into a groove in the plug 2 to retain it. The sleeve 22 is slidable on the plug 2 and may be withdrawn against the action of a spring to allow the spring 11 to disengage the plug. A polarizing stud and groove (Fig. 1, not shown) may be provided. The pins and sockets of the connector are held in insulating discs mounted within tubular shells of the members 1 and 2. |
