[Also in Division H2] A gear hobbing machine includes an electrical synchronizing transmission between the hob and work spindles 3, 13, said transmission comprising two three-phase slipring motors 7, 12 having each a first winding connected to the three-phase mains supply and second windings interconnected with each other, a main driving motor 4 being arranged to drive one of the slipring motors in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of its field, the two slipring motors being synchronized by the interconnected second windings. The hob spindle 3 is driven from motor 4 through the slipring motor 7 and transmission elements 5, 6, 8 . . . 11. The work spindle 13 is driven from slipring motor 12 through the transmission elements 14 . . . 20. Longitudinal feed of the hob slide is effected by means of screw 31 and nut 30, drive to the nut 30 in either direction being taken from motor 12 through gears 14 . . . 17, 23, 24, gear trains 26 or 27 (according to the sense of actuation of electromagnetic clutch 22), shaft 25 and worm and wheel 28, 29. Radial feed of the hob slide is derived from motor 7 through the various transmission elements 40 . . . 52, the direction of feed depending upon the sense of actuation of clutch 41. In order to provide for the hobbing of helical gears the slipring motor 12 is provided with a rotatable stator, rotation thereof modifying the output drive speed of the motor to gear 14 from which drive is taken to the work spindle 13. Thus for hobbing helical gears gear train 32 . . . 35, 37, 39 is engaged to rotate the stator of motor 12 at the desired speed. Screw spindles 31, 48 for longitudinal and radial feed respectively of the hob slide can be rotated alternatively by hand wheels 58, 56 or servomotors 59, 57. Bevel gears may be cut by arranging simultaneous longitudinal and radial feed of the hob slide in suitably timed relation. |
