The device has a cutting device (3) i.e. rotating cutting knife (5), driven by a drive (4) i.e. electric motor. A product feeder (2) feeds a food product (1) to the cutting device. A receiving device receives food product slices (7), which are cut from the food product. A digital control system stores a specification for a cutting program. The control system monitors a status parameter e.g. drive temperature, and determines whether a predefined condition, which requires a maintenance measure, is met based on the status parameter and the selected specification. |
