1,142,023. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. G. MœLLER, [trading as GERHARD MœLLER]. 14 April, 1966 [17 April, 1965], No. 16448/66. Heading B5K. [Also in Divisions A4 and E2] A sliding clasp fastener folding case of highfrequency welded plastics foils and stiffening means held together by two parallel edge welds, in which the edges have the same rigidity as the remaining case. The fastener 9, Fig. 7, is held in a frame 2 with its band 12 outward between an inner foil 11 and an edge covering foil 10 and between an electrode 1 and a slightly recessed base plate 3 holding a reinforcement sheet 13 e.g. cardboard with its upper face having a plastics layer 14. The foils, sheet 13 and fastener band are butt welded by the electrode part 4 to leave the extreme edges of the foils loose. The ends of the band are secured under a covering foil 15 at the fold axis of the case butt welded by a part 5. The combination is lifted by the frame 2 held within the raised electrode 1 and a deeply recessed base 7, Fig.10, with cutting edges 8 replaces base 3, and a layer of outer foil 17 and foamed material 16 is laid over the base 7. The electrode 1 is lowered to make a separation weld whereby the extreme edges of the foils are removed and the outer foil 7 becomes wrapped round and joined to the covering foil 10. |
