Microbiological degradation of hydrocarbons including undesirable amounts of water and soil-hazardous mineral oils and petroleum products in ecosystems, which include freshwater and marine waters, and water containing liquids, soils, sediments, sludge, waste mixtures and similar substrates, comprises introducing a solid material made of carbonaceous carrier, which is contacted with hydrocarbons and has biogenetic property for feeding hydrocarbon-degrading fungus species on- or into the respective substrate for degradation of the hydrocarbons. The bio-coal, which is obtained from catalytic hydrothermal carbonization, is used as carrier, and the fungi of the family Amorphothecaceae are used as degrading fungi. |
