The invention provides a livestock animal guarding apparatus (14.1) to be carried by a livestock animal. The apparatus includes at least one sensor (30) for sensing at least one parameter of the livestock animal which may be suggestive of anxiety of the livestock animal and at least one emitter (32) for emitting at least one deterrent emission for deterring a predator. The apparatus is configured such that, in use of the apparatus on the livestock animal, it will trigger the at least one emitter to emit the at least one deterrent emission in response to at least one trigger event including sensing by means of the at least one sensor that the at least one parameter is suggestive of anxiety of the livestock animal. |
