PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device including the same are provided to secure a vertical light profile by using an optical sheet coupled light guide plate. CONSTITUTION: A reflecting sheet(142) is arranged in a cover bottom. An optical sheet coupled light guide plate(144) is formed in the upper part of the reflecting sheet. The optical sheet coupled light guide plate diffuses the light emitted from a light source or condenses it. The optical sheet coupled light guide plate includes a light condensing sheet(147) and a diffusion pattern(149).
