An air cushion vehicle 1 having sealing means 3 for fluid cushions operates in combination with a track 2 having supporting flanges 2b and a central guide rail 2a, the flanges 2b being apertured at 2c and inclined as shown to enable water and debris to be discharged. The inclination of the flanges 2b is smaller than or at the most equal to the ratio of the operative leakage gap height " h " of a cushion to the horizontal width " w " of that cushion. Alternatively, the apertures may be dispensed with, the flanges sloping in the opposite direction. Rail 2a may carry a steel capping to co-operate with braking shoes on the vehicle and both rail and flanges may have steel inserts to permit propulsion of the vehicle by means of a linear reactor. |
