PURPOSE: Chemical oxygen generation method and apparatus are provided to reduce the volume and size of an oxygen generator, and to produce oxygen by successively reacting potassium superoxide, silica gel, manganese dioxide, and water. CONSTITUTION: A chemical oxygen generation method comprises the following steps: reacting potassium superoxide and water in a chamber; inserting manganese dioxide necessary for breaking down hydrogen peroxide generated from the previous step into oxygen; and inserting silica gel necessary for breaking down potassium hydroxide generated from the previous step into oxygen.
