<p>PURPOSE: A method for detecting an edge grip from a touch panel and a device using the same are provided to improve the operation accuracy of a touch panel by removing an influence of the edge grip on normal operation. CONSTITUTION: A first determining unit(113) determines a change of an edge area state. If the edge area state is not chanted, a removing unit(114) removes a first edge signal. If the edge area state is changed, a storage unit(115) updates the first edge signal as the next standard signal. If the edge area state is changed, a scanning unit(111) scans the same edge area to obtain a second edge signal. A second determining unit(116) compares a first threshold value with the signal strength of the second edge signal. If the signal strength of the second edge signal is greater than the first threshold value, the storage unit records the edge area state and updates the first edge signal as the next standard signal.
