PURPOSE: A seat belt device for a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to improve stability for a passenger by reducing initial operation time of the seat belt and by reducing delay generated in tension generating time of the seat belt with a dual section control method. CONSTITUTION: A control method of a seat belt device for a vehicle comprises a step of detecting a control current value applied to a motor in a detecting unit in prediction of vehicle collision(S210); a step of determining whether the control current value transferred from the sensing unit smaller than a predetermined current value(S220); a step of operating the motor according to a predetermined voltage profile when the detected control current value is smaller than the predetermined current value(S230); a step of detecting the control current value applied to the motor and operated according to the voltage profile in real time or periodically(S240); a step of determining whether the control current value transferred from the detecting unit is over the predetermined current value after operating the motor(S250); and a step of operating the motor according to a predetermined current profile when the detected control current value is over the predetermined current value(S260).
