PURPOSE: A walking aid robot and a method for controlling the same are provided to easily recognize user's intention and to ensure easy manipulation. CONSTITUTION: A walking aid robot comprises a robot part(10) comprising devices for assisting walking; a sensor part(30) for sensing a user's arm motion; and a control unit which recognizes walking intention form the arm motion and drives the robot part.
