The invention relates to a method for determining volumes and surface areas of cells of diatomic algae providing for selecting and taking photographs of the algae, computer plotting of three-dimensional geometric models by means of creating a frame, which is covered by a polygonal surface, calculating the volumes and areas of the algae by the obtained models. In doing so the three-dimensional frame of a model is plotted by means of combining three computer digitized projections of skeletons of the diatomic algae onto valved, longitudinal and transversal planes. To plot digital projections, Bezier cubic curves are used. The latters are used for contouring the diatomic cells with key peaks of the Bezier curves arranged in morphologically significant places of the contour limits of a cell which correspond to the most expectable places of changes in the shape of limits while microalgae are developing, and after "coating" the frame by the polygonal surface the model plotted is put into correlation with the sizes of the test object and modified with the aid of moving the key peaks of the Bezier curves in such a manner that sizes and proportions thereof were corresponding to sizes and proportions of the cells being tested. |
