A combined chess-draught game "81" requires game board and two identical sets of the pieces varying in color. The game board consists of 81 squares of three colors; the squares of different colors are arranged alternately. The squares are numbered from 1 to 41 locating in rows downwards from the player who moves a piece first (every other square). Two large diagonals, 9 squares each, divide the game board into four game areas. Each game area encloses the broken line consisting of five squares. Each of two sets of pieces comprises 14 simple draught pieces, 4 kings, two rooks, two knights, two queens and one chess king. Nine simple draught pieces are used as the pawns. Two draught kings are used as the bishops. The simple draught pieces set in the squares composing the broken line on the first, second or third rows numbered from the player are designated as "10", "20" or "30", correspondingly. The rooks set in the squares composing the broken line are designated as "10". The pawns set in the squares composing the broken line on the second row are designated as "20". |
