PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition and food composition containing C3G complex(chokeberry biologically active fraction) is provided to ensure safety and to minimize side effect. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating arteriosclerosis contains 15% or more of C3G complex(cyanidin-3-glucoside complex) as an active ingredient. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating essential hypertension contains C3G complex(chokeberry biologically active fraction) as an active ingredient. The C3G complex is administered in 1-200 mg/kg. A food composition for preventing and treating arteriosclerosis contains the C3G complex as an active ingredient.
