<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reception apparatus that enables appropriate video depending on a broadcast program to be displayed on a display screen, a reception method, and an external-apparatus linking system. <P>SOLUTION: A reception apparatus comprises discrimination information reception means and output control means. The discrimination information reception means receives discrimination information that is transmitted from the outside of the own apparatus and is associated with display information to be displayed on a display screen.
