<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device employing an electromagnetic induction heating system that sufficiently suppresses temperature rise of a non-paper feeding part when a small-size recording material is fed even if a heating member with low thermal capacity is used, and reduces image unevenness on the second side. <P>SOLUTION: An image heating device exerts control to change the number of divided movable cores to be moved in accordance with the width size of a recording material introduced to the device; selects one of a first control mode for moving the divided movable cores and contacting a heat uniforming member with a pressure member, and a second control mode for moving the divided movable cores but not contacting the heat uniforming member with the pressure member in accordance with the basis weight of the recording material introduced to the device and the number of the recording material fed per unit time; and performs the selected mode. When contacting the heat uniforming member with the pressure member in executing a job for forming images on both sides of the recording material, the image heating device contacts the heat uniforming member with the pressure member at a timing when the pressure member and the images on the recording material are not in contact with each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
