The device has a thread brake (16) i.e. compensation thread brake, and another thread brake (17) i.e. vibration brake, arranged before or behind a thread delivery wheel (3) of a thread delivery device (1) i.e. positive-thread delivery device, in a thread course. A rotational axis of a drive shaft (4) runs vertically in operation. The wheel is arranged at the drive shaft. The thread brake includes a brake holder (25) with a brake leg (28) i.e. thread sensor, where a tensioning device includes a tensioning unit i.e. spring, for acting upon the brake leg.
